About failing forward 🚀
Starting something new feels exciting and energizing. You have a clear vision, goal, and passion. Soon, you move from idea and inspiration into the action stage, and struggle might arise. It might feel harder than expected. You might stumble, feel small and incapable, and doubt yourself. Imposter syndrome and the whole overthinking cocktail might start to kick in. You might make mistakes and fail.
This stage is nothing to overcome quickly to start thriving and achieving your goal. Life is a hike. Life doesn’t happen at the mountain's peak. It happens on the trail. And on this trail, you don’t only enjoy the beauty of nature and relish in the exercise. You also take breaks. And you also slip, take detours, stumble, and fall on your way forward.
Think about yourself as a child when learning how to walk. You fell and hurt yourself plenty of times before you mastered walking. In this process, you didn’t doubt yourself, look at others, judge yourself, compare or give up. What you did do, though, was make it wrong, go steps back, stumble, fail, and be consistent. When you fell hard and hurt yourself, you maybe cried, but after that, learning set in, and you adjusted your movement, speed, and direction for more intentional steps next time. What you didn’t do was doubt your abilities and give up walking because you failed.
Failing is so hard on us because we are taught it is as we grow up. School, university, parents, society, and media teach us that success, excelling, perfection, and mastery are rewarded. Failing, pausing, imperfection, and pivoting are less welcome on the contrary. But mastery cannot happen without hard work, and this includes learning and, therefore, failure - in the hike of life, everything gets to be included.
Today, I want to celebrate you for that mistake, failure, or stumble on your trail!! Your failure is your win!! It shows that you keep going, put hard work into it, and are courageous, dedicated, and on your path of thriving. Failing is a gift from life that allows you to explore, get deeper, learn, and create your unique way. Keep having patience, awareness, trust, and consistency, and failure turns into winning.
